Our Story
Built on Generations of Craftsmanship
Today, Grussendorf Landscaping Inc. is proudly owned by Chris Gabrielson and Alex Newberg. Chris began his career at Grussendorf Nursery, where he worked for four years alongside longtime foreman Brad Matuszak under the leadership of owners Carl Grussendorf and his late brother John Grussendorf. Together, Brad and Chris later started, owned, and operated Grussendorf Landscaping for six years.
In 2009, Alex joined the company, bringing fresh energy and dedication. By 2014, he took over ownership from Brad, joining Chris in leading the company forward.

[ OUR FOUNDER ]
Deke Grussendorf
A Legacy Rooted in the Land
Grussendorf Landscaping Inc. began with the vision and hard work of Deke Grussendorf, a craftsman with a passion for the outdoors and a commitment to honest, quality service. In 1952, Deke founded the company with his four sons—Carl, John, Tom, and Jim. Armed with little more than a strong work ethic, a handful of tools, and a vision, they set out to create landscapes that would add lasting beauty and value to homes and communities.
Through hands-on dedication and a deep understanding of the land, Deke built a reputation for excellence—laying the foundation for a company that would grow with the same integrity and care he brought to every project. His values of craftsmanship, reliability, and doing things the right way continue to guide Grussendorf Landscaping Inc. to this day.
Deke’s legacy lives on in every patio we build, every wall we place, and every garden we plant. His pioneering spirit and love for the craft remain at the heart of who we are, more than 70 years later.
